Edwards brings Fortune 50 executive level experience to MEG leadership. Monte spent 15 years in the fast growing Wireless Telecommunications industry primarily in Vice President and General Manager positions with Verizon Wireless (formerly ALLTEL Corporation and GTE Corporation). He lived in 7 states and overseas during his corporate career. After he made the tough decision to leave Verizon to help the evacuees of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita via SRS’ newly awarded 9 figure prime disaster recovery contract with FEMA, Monte helped lead SRS to become an Inc. 500 and BE 100s multi-million dollar company delivering high quality projects and services to the Federal Government and Commercial marketplace in multiple states. Edwards attained the Department of Energy Q-level security clearance (equivalent to the Department of Defense Top Secret Clearance) during this time.
With core capabilities of Facilities Operations & Maintenance, Disaster Recovery Services and Construction Management Services, SRS was recognized as an Inc. 500 company, Southeast 8 State Region Department of Transportation (DOT) DBE of the Year, Top 100 Department of Homeland Security Contractor in the U.S., and District SBA 8(a) Company of the Year.
Edwards holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University and enjoys serving the community through present and past Board of Directorships with the Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta, University of North Carolina at Greensboro Board of Visitors, Junior Achievement of Georgia, multiple United Way boards, Salvation Army of Greensboro, YMCA, multiple Chamber(s) of Commerce boards and others. Edwards is a Leadership Atlanta graduate and is a member of the 100 Black Men of Atlanta (past Chairman of Membership), Cornell Alumni Admissions Ambassadors Network and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
